I received my used eero and switch to set up a network connection for my to-be BSD server. Adding the eero to my existing network was easy. It did require a reset of the new-to-me eero and then an update of the entire network to the latest software version which took a few minutes.
After that, I shutdown the Raspberry Pi I had setup the other day and put the eero in its place. On initial connection of the switch to the back of the eero, I get no connection to the iDRAC card even though it is connected to the switch and the link light is on. Plugging the iDRAC cable directly into the eero worked. It must have been a DHCP thing or something because I was able to reconnect the switch and get to the iDRAC from the network.
Used the iDRAC to fire up the system and it launched the OS. It got bogged down waiting for the network to be configured but got through that in about a minute with an IP assigned from the eero. It booted up fine and I was able to connect through the virtual console on the iDRAC and via SSH.
Next step: installing BSD.
