FreeBSD 14.2 is out. The Register has a overview of the release. It’s very interesting that FreeBSD has adopted OCI containers. It’s a nice addition to jails and will be great for people (like me) coming from Linux. Since I don’t use a laptop, I haven’t had the upgrade troubles described in the article, but they sound quite annoying.

I’ll update my BSD server as soon as I figure out some weird power issues that are occurring in my office. Sometimes, the electrical sockets on one wall of my office go out. There are no tripped breakers or GFIs. When I unplug everything and wait an indeterminate amount of time, they come back alive. Really weird and disconcerting.

It might have something to do with the load placed on those two outlet gangs, so I’ve spread out the load among other outlets and it’s seemed to get better. However, that doesn’t give me a good place for the server which has a considerable electrical draw so I’ll have to sort that out.
