I try to maintain my privacy as much as possible online. I recognize there are limits to what we can reasonably do, but one of the easiest things to do is switch to Firefox.
Chrome is a very nice browser, but I’ve switched to Firefox for all of my personal web use. I do sometimes use Chrome on my work computer as it is a “requirement” for some of the apps we use. Even so, I use Safari for work when I can. Safari isn’t much better than Chrome but does do a few things to protect privacy and, in general, Apple is less creepy than Google.
After switching to Chrome, the next thing to do is switch your default search to DuckDuckGo. It’s much less intrusive than Google and the search results seem comparable (except maps where Google really has a great product).
